In their pursuit for a meaningful art after the Holocaust a post-war generation of artists starts to question the tradition of painting in the late 1950s and early 1960s. This anti-peinture sentiment was also part of the Group 58 movement circa 1960. This collage fits into this broader development form anti-peinture to nouveau realisme, pop art and conceptual art.
