The central figure in this small, exquisitely detailed yet unsigned oil on panel is up to no good. He drinks and smokes and has a self-conscious, almost aggressive expression over him. As in most paintings by David Teniers II the background features a fireplace with a small portrait of a man`s head on the wall.
